Personal Home Visits: Certified parent educators trained in child development and home visiting provide parents with:

·        age-appropriate child development and parenting information

·        suggestions for learning opportunities that encourage language, intellectual, physical, and social skills and social growth

·        opportunities to discuss parenting concerns

·        assistance in observing their child’s development

·        strategies to manage challenging behaviour

·        ways to encourage a strong parent-child relationship

Home visits normally occur on a monthly or biweekly basis.

Developmental Screenings: Parent educators provide periodic screening of overall development including health, hearing and vision.   Developmental screenings assist parents in understanding age-appropriate development and can detect potential concerns early so any necessary intervention can be determined.

Group Meetings:  Opportunities are provided for parents to come together and share concerns and successes and obtain additional parenting information.  See Calendar of Events for upcoming group programming.

Resource Network:  Links to other community services that further support and enrich families are provided.

Resource Library:  Parents as Teachers families have the opportunity to borrow books and other parenting resources from an extensive resource library.

Newsletter:  Families receive a quarterly newsletter filled with parenting ideas and information about upcoming Parents as Teachers and community events.
