NOV. 8 Is National Parents as Teachers Day (USD)
November 8 is National Parents as Teachers Day, a day to recognize the thousands of organizations offering Parents as Teachers services around the world. Here's to the thousands of parent educators, including those here at South Region Parents as Teachers, who give parents of young children support and information so all children will learn, grow and develop to realize their full potential.
Here is a bit of what some of our families have shared with us about their home visitors:
“This was a wonderful, supportive program that we learned a lot from. Our whole family benefited from participating. [Our home visitor] was fantastic - our child loved spending time with her. She worked very hard to tailor PAT resources to our family and our specific questions. We recommend PAT to everyone we know with young children.”
“[Our home visitor] has been one of the biggest supports in our lives. She has helped me gain confidence in being the best mom for my baby. She helped me establish strong routines early such as reading at bedtime when she was small... I never feel overwhelmed in parenting because I know I can reach out to our home visitor without any judgment. I am so thankful for this program and for the support.”
“We love [our home visitor] , and having her come visit is a highlight of our month. It's an invaluable resource, especially since our parents aren't close by. Thank you :)”
Parents as Teachers evidence-based model is backed by nearly 40 years of independent research including many evidence recognitions.
